Conversation guide
Give the details the store needs
When looking for an item, start with what it is and add the color if that matters. A store associate may ask about size separately. If the item is right but the fit is wrong, ask for another size of the same item so the associate knows which detail you want to change.
Distinguish finding an item from trying it on
Once the associate hands you an item, you may still need to ask where to try it on. The fitting room is where you can check how it fits. If it doesn’t work, describe the fit in simple terms such as too loose or too tight so the associate knows what to bring next.
Practice asking for a change
Imagine you found a jacket you like, but the sleeves are too short. Say which item you mean and what you want to change. Keep the color and the style the same.
